Happy Valentine’s Day! It has been a really busy week and I really wanted to make sure I made my husband and kids handmade valentine’s day cards. I was getting a little worried that I wouldn’t have time to make them after a full day of work at my day job.
I decided to go with a simple faux hand-lettered phrase (notice that I said “faux” lol) and embellish the card using red foil heart stickers that I picked up from Michael’s for only .59cents! Can’t beat that!
It is super simple to make the card the way I did. Just print the file on cardstock, fold it in half, and trim it down if you like. I wanted to have a pink border around my card so I trimmed close to an inch from the top and bottom and about a 1/2 inch from the side with a paper trimmer. Then I folded it as well as an 8.5×11 inch pink cardstock sheet. I glued the print on to the pink cardstock, then I took a reddish pink Tombow brush marker and traced over the faux hand-lettered type to give it a more handmade look. If you can hand-letter your own card that is wonderful, but I’m horrible at it!
Finally, I added the red foil hearts around the phrase in all different directions and wrote a nice hand-written message on the inside. Oh, also had to write the fact that it was handmade on the back so hubs would know I slaved over this handmade card for him!
You don’t have to add stickers to the card, you can do whatever you like! That is why I’m providing the simple file with just the faux hand-lettering. You can draw your own elements and even add some watercolor to it. Embellish it your way and have fun!
